I guess over here, our government swears allegiance and fielty only to the monarch, but the monarch is the head of the protestant church. So I am not used to the government having a religious aspect. They would swear on either their preferred religious text or make an affirmation with no text!

I can't get over how religious this is for a nation that has separated Church and State!
