As a vet and a retired 31-yr federal employee, I still hold myself to that oath. Domestic enemies took that oath, but clearly they never intended to honor it although it includes “…that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; “

Our oath never ends even in death. I stand ready to defend the constitution and the citizens of this country.

We should amend the constitution to require no felons in elected office at any level and require veteran status for Presidential office.

When your primary interest is power and money, it makes a very difficult to support rule of law and the constitution.
Supporting power and money on a government leadership position is a recipe for disaster.

Saved these for my Dad (USN Vet.) Who has been saying his oath never came with an expiration date

Because they never became physical property of the US Government like we did. Service members put their literal bodies on the line over that oath.

I took that oath. And even though I am a left wing life long hippie SOB I will honor that oath above all others except for family.
Together we stand,
together we fall.

No integrity pre-oath = no integrity post-oath. It also doesn’t help when the oath-taker has no comprehension of the oath being taken and it’s significance.

And I thank you for your service. I hoping today’s servicemen have the time & ability to research whether the orders they have been asked to perform are legal before they press the button. And if they get it wrong, that it’s the generals giving the order, not the button pusher who gets punished.

Easy to say as a vet. Think of the kid sitting on a ship; or in a tank; or flying a plane around a foreign country, with their fingers on the big red button, told to rain hell on total strangers who’ve done nothing! They have orders from the officers who SHOULD know better. ICE are something else!
