At this very special event I moderated last night, Vanity Fair sat down with Timothee Chalamet and Adam Sandler to talk about their friendship, films, and more. Chalamet finished shooting Dune 4 days ago! They also played ball!

I had such a lovely time at the SCAD Savannah film festival! Spoke with Jon M Chu about Wicked: For Good and Zoey Deutch about Nouvelle Vague in front of the most enthusiastic audiences I’ve ever seen.

A double exclusive tag on obituary? How embarrassing.

In the middle of my interview with a very talented person, he stopped the interview to talk to me about Richard Lawson, one of his favorite critics. Mine too @rilaws.bsky.social

Is a fall film festival even a fall film festival if Oscar Isaac isn’t there? This man went Venice- Telluride-Venice -TIFF. And still looks like this.

Oscar Isaac flew from Venice to Telluride just to introduce the Frankenstein screenings and less than 24 hours later he was back on a plane back to Venice.

Beef was an awards-sweeping TV series that has some very personal and specific character and storyline choices reflecting its Korean-America creator’s experiences. Plus great performances.

It’s hard to pick an Anna May Wong performance because she’s always so bewitching to watch. But Shanghai Express (1932) is always worth a rewatch.

Joy Luck Club (1993). The first movie I saw that made me feel seen as the child of a Chinese immigrant mother.

Flower Drum Song! The 1961 musical nominated for 5 Oscars. We spoke about it on LGM a couple of years ago too. www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/20...

Wow #Sinners is great. Ryan Coogler is such a soulful filmmaker and the film is much more than a vampire movie or a movie with Michael B Jordan playing twins. Just go see it. Opening weekend (this weekend) if you can.

More photos from the carpet!
March 3, 2025 at 12:19 AM
I just watched Halle Berry kiss Adrien Brody on the lips on the red carpet. Clearly a throwback to the 2003 scandal when Adrien won. For more drama from the carpet follow our liveblog: www.vanityfair.com/live/oscars-...

Timothee does the quieter photo carpet which I found pretty funny. He also stopped for all the fans.

Here’s Timothee’s speech about how he hopes to be great. I thought that was pretty vulnerable to admit.

At the after party, the Shogun table is struggling under the weight of all its awards.

Anora wins director and picture and lead performer. Not a big surprise since Baker is an indie darling.

Hi from the indie spirits!

So proud of my VF podcast husbands David and @rilaws.bsky.social for being at the top of the leaderboard in Vulture’s Movie Fantasy League podcast division. Seems like it might be worth listening to Little Gold Men if you don’t already!

VF hosted a very nice party for Wicked last night and my favorite Jon M Chu.
