Mining service pilgrimage today. For some reason, despite more publicity than usual, we had a teeny group of 4 of us and only thirty (as opposed to 80 last year) at the service.

A stunning evening at Landsend watching the fireworks!

A gloomy day on Poldhu beach yesterday. We are staycationing this year (actual staycation; where we stay in our home and do day trips). It was beautiful, but we were eventually driven off by rain!! #staycation #poldhu #home #cornwall

I totally recommend a night away camping with your bestie, a few ciders, and no responsibility (apart from the dog!). In just 24hrs I relaxed and unwound and some local thought I was the local MP (who happens to be an older man and a distant cousin, so that’s a bit odd!!).

Dropping the boy at work in the morning is not a hardship!! #Porthtowan #BlueBar

Our walk of witness through #Redruth was poignant and meaningful. It’s definitely been a good Holy Week this year.

The view from my window at @trinitybristol.bsky.social Back for another CYF conference to intentionally develop churches that are safe places where children want to be.

Lunch today at Redruth Buttermarket! If you haven’t been yet and are in Cornwall, go!! I had a Sri Lankan Thali and it was immense! It was enough for two though!

The boy is going for a body board so I’m sat on the beach waiting around with an excellent book. 📕 oh the trials!!!

Lunch at Lizard. Yum. Thanks @susiet.bsky.social for company. And for letting me preach at Mullion. Where I stood where my greatx7 grandfather did (who was vicar there in 1720-1780). #Home #Connected

Since @gwr.com was unable to provide me with a cup of tea, I’ve had to resort to my 5pm drink at 3pm. #TheUrnIsBroke #ItsLikeTheCOfE

Beautiful few hours in St Ives. Book, coffee, eldest having a body board session. Breathe.

Really interesting how often I find that church folk will mention everything except the reason we are there when you ask them what they love!! (I added faith at the end of the conversation.) I do think this is a significant factor in why we struggle to connect with folk outside church.

Beautiful visit to Porthtowen for my day off. The sea was stunning, the sun was warm (sheltered from the easterly!) and the food at Blue Bar was amazing as always. #Cornwall #CornishVicarsDayOff

Back at my desk after a week and a half and it’s bonkers. Most of this needs to be done before Sunday. Tomorrow is theoretically my day off. Let’s see how efficient I can be!!!!

It’s a wild day at Portreath!

I absolutely LOVED being back at Trinity College Bristol this week. The games room is now a cosy pub, the chapel has better chairs, and LR1 hasn’t changed at all. It’s a real privilege to be part of a cohort of incumbents who are exploring deeper and more authentic ways of making church a place…

Went to Luxmuralis at @trurocathedral.bsky.social this evening. It was stunning. But I also noticed what I will now call the @jayhulmepoet.bsky.social bridge. My goodness it’s high and flimsy!!
