How does everyone in the front row of this photo except me magically know exactly what it means when someone says "do the sorority squat"
A group photo, cropped to show the four people in the front row. Three of them are in the "sorority squat" pose, with their knees bent and together and hands placed together on their upper legs. I have my knees bent but not together, and my hands are separated, asymmetrical, and sitting on either leg.

When I was a kid we did one of these in class and I did read all the directions before starting, but still did all the steps because the teacher had told us over and over that directions on worksheets have to be followed in order
A worksheet for kids that has ten instructions. At the top it says "directions: before starting this assignment, read all questions carefully." Instruction 1 says to write your name at the top of the paper. Instructions 2-9 involve doing silly things like waving your hands in the air and clapping. Instruction 10 says to only complete instruction number one, then turn in the paper.
