He presses his lips to Essek's forearm like he doesn't wish Essek to leave, but this is the only part of Essek he can reach. Essek has turned his face to the wall with a stricken expression. Neither of them wants the moment to be over, but they cannot stay. In less than a moment after the scene in this painting, they will have departed.
