At first, I thought I could just rotate the hue of HSL colors and call it a day. Since then, I've learned about perceptual color spaces, OKLCH, Bezold-Brücke effect and I still can't always get good programmatic palettes 😅

But I built Color Palette Pro to help get us halfway there: colorpalette.pro
Color Palette Pro — A Synthesizer for Color Palettes
Generate customizable color palettes in advanced color spaces that can be easily shared, downloaded, or exported.

Upgraded this React Native project to Expo SDK 54 to try Liquid Glass Bottom Tabs. It’s SO different. I like it.

This definitely helped me wrap my head around using @tanstack.com DB with a sync engine like @electric-sql.com

Side project update: the Darkroom Toolkit chemistry section is complete. Lots of data entry left to do. It’s essentially a cookbook in the app. This and film processing will really be the core.

One of my favourite black and white film stocks is Orwo N74. Hopefully @orwo.bsky.social will be able to manufacture it again at some point.

Happy to see people migrating here from Posts. That community was special. I was a lurker, but really enjoyed seeing people sharing their work and being supportive of one another.

Hat tip to Jovanni Lo for supporting the new architecture in React Native True Sheet. It’s such a nice library for adding native bottom sheets in an app.

Goal for 2025: get the React Native project I’ve been working on into the app stores.

Cthulhu grant me the strength to not totally over-design the thing before deciding it’s ready to be put out into the world.
