It’s not one of my favorite songs, purely as a song. But there might not be a better window into the story of the Beatles

Paul wrote quite a few obviously-about-Jane-Asher songs, with varying degrees of success. Another Girl is probably the weakest of the bunch

John's vocal in Bad Boy is great, but it's a little hard to get past the essential quaintness of the lyrics

It's not one of my favorites, but Honey Don't still has some nice elements

I'm not wholly convinced they didn't *notice* the gender dynamics of covering Boys. But I do buy that they genuinely weren't that bothered about it. They just liked the song.

I mean, I genuinely do like all the songs. But of the albums that I love, I probably love With the Beatles the least.

The other thing is that I actually quite like some of the songs that you listed as your least favorites, and there's no accounting for different taste, ultimately

If it helps, Little Child was only a couple spots higher beatles208.substack.com/p/205-little...

I'm certain there are some serious Little Child appreciators out there, and you can totally understand why

Imagine putting Yesterday on your album and then deciding to follow it with this

Some of the live versions are actually pretty good! They just didn't bring the heat to the studio session, so sadly we ended up with a fairly bland cover as the official take

I actually specifically discus that in the (eventual) post on Mr. Moonlight.

Can't really argue that Moonlight is 'better' in any objective sense, but I personally love that they loved it and wanted to include it.

I’ve got bad news for you: I kind of like Mr. Moonlight.

I suspect your opinion is the more popular one, though.

Hold Me Tight isn’t my personal favorite but it’s probably *someone’s* favorite.

On the first episode of @personalbeatles.bsky.social they posed the question: did the Beatles actually exist? Because it doesn't actually seem plausible, if you actually consider the scope of their story.
