My default choice is Verdana. I like to be able to easily distinguish between lower case "l", capital "I", and the number "1" and it's easier to read as I approach 60.

Here in Crawford County, PA, it's always on the Thursday before and the kids have Friday off. I always assumed that the schools didn't want to deal with a bunch of sugared up kids.
