Beardy Hobbit
@beardyhobbit.bsky.social
English heathen witch living in Oxfordshire. Author, diviner, barefooter, dreamer on friendly terms with his inner cynic. Gay, not queer. A little bit Mr Giles from “Buffy”, a little bit Basil Brush.
The Pentagram and the Trident. Witching it up on a very windy day (as you can tell from my beard) at Avebury Stone Circle recently. 🤘🏻

I’ve been seeing a lot of these decorated trees around lately… can’t think why…
A very Merry Solstice and a Cool Yule to all! 🧙🏻‍♂️

The King’s Men stone circle at the Rollright Stones, on the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire border. Long ago a witch changed an invading king’s army into stone, then herself into an elder tree. If the tree is ever found and cut down, the army will come back to life.

This is Arthur’s Stone in Herefordshire, near the English/Welsh border, where King Arthur defeated a giant. There’s a dent in one of the stones from where the giant’s elbow hit it when he fell.

Here’s me at Wayland’s Smithy in Oxfordshire, near the Vale of the White Horse. It’s an early Neolithic burial chamber with a legendary association to Weland, the Anglo-Saxon god of smithcraft.
