Very targeted ad I just came across on another platform: a Latino nightclub in North Carolina hosting a "Dubai Night" (whatever that means). I'm like the exact opposite audience for much of it (the nightclub and weird kingdom setting part, not the Latino part)

People love "downpours and thunderstorms while there's still a lot of snow on the ground in the UP and northern lower peninsula" season (yes I know it's normal though there is just soo much snow left in some places)

Saw a porcupine in my friends yard today. It just wandered the edge of their yard munching on the remaining leaves on the blackberry plants.
A porcupine is seen at the edge of a yard bordered by blackberry plants and oak trees. The light & dark brown colors of the porcupine make it visually blend into the fallen leaves accumulated at the edge of the grassy area.

I'm feeling like a lot of the Jim Varney Emotions Chart faces today

But, if my assumption that the character was actually in St. Ignace and went down US-2 (or at least they took US-2 after crossing the Mac) then they could have reached both Sioux Falls, South Dakota or Fargo, North Dakota in the 12 hours in the song (reaching Fargo in 11 hours, 30 minutes possibly)

Also, assuming Seger's subject in the song actually reached the northern plains (Western Minnesota or the Dakotas) going south out of Mackinaw City isn't really an option because you're not reaching those places in 12 hours going through Chicago (& the Lake Express ferry didn't exist in the 1970's)

Looking at a westbound road from Mackinaw City doesn't mean many main roads. Like maybe US-31 if he was a bit south of town but maybe he just misremembered and was actually in St. Ignace. US-2 would make more sense but "12 hours out of St. Ignace" doesn't fit the rhyme scheme.

Love to wear summer clothes to work & see turtles sunning themselves & hear various frogs in the ponds & forests around the area... then see it is supposed to snow in a couple days.
