Praise matters! Don't be a "Good Job Robot"! Instead, try labeling the behavior you saw with enthusiasm!
Example: "Match! You matched it! Yay!"
It's more realistic and it also models relational connects & builds language skills!

ABAI still passively supports JRC. The QABA is pushing anti-DEI. The BACB is worried about their certification instead of about clients. Conversion therapy is on a rise. Pathologizing people is increasing. All of this are signals that we need to do something. Stand for fundamental rights & dignity.

Agree to disagree is reserved for matters of taste such as liking blue cheese or black licorice. This is not true for fundamental rights. The right to autonomy, to free expression, to live one's life the way one wants to live it is not something we can agree to disagree on.

As a general rule people are people. We are not good or bad. We are. The perspective matters. Any human can justify harm easily. ANY HUMAN! No exceptions. This is why the ends does not justify the mean. This is why we must select our behavior with intention.

Often when I hear behavior analysts and others discussing Neurodiversity, I notice significant misunderstandings based on their interpretations rather than actual definitions. This can lead to the misconception that Neurodiversity is mentalism. Here’s a breakdown to help bridge this gap.

Boundaries are just about you. They are about teaching others how to treat you....

Operant behavior is learning through consequences. If there is no consequence for someone violating your boundaries then you teach them they can walk all over you. 1/

Look, DTT is not the devil. Discrete Trial Training, put simply, is where there is a clear beginning and end with a behavior that can be measured. The issue isn't DTT, it's coercion. It's forcing children to drill over and over instead of creating variety and opportunities for exploration.

First post on a new platform, so what do I post? Well, why not start strong by being a critical friend of my field (applied behavior analysis) and my science (radical behaviorism). Lovaas popularozed using coercion with autistics. Before this it wasn't so popular. Check out this book amzn.to/48UOOgd
