The Portland police should keep roadways clear to allow ICE officers to carry out their LAWFUL duties. People who oppose existing immigration laws should petition Congress to change the laws. They SHOULD NOT obstruct law enforcement agencies from enforcing the laws. Violence is not protected speech.

OK. Protests are fine and protected by the US Constitution. However, assaulting officers and impeding law enforcement operations are NOT protests. Those actions are illegal and border on insurrection, especially when local officials do nothing to control the law breakers.
