Studies have shown that reading literature is an effective way to teach empathy to children and teens. As a retired HS ELA teacher and I can tell you the power of this is incredible. Reading TKAM aloud and marveling at the gasps and tears of 9th graders. It is pure magic.
Choose empathy. Read.
