Seattle sounds bleak
I am insistent that the Maguire Method is an excellent system/philosophy for sharpening edge tools and when the Philadelphia community hand tool woodshop opens everyone will have to lean it! Luckily I got @phillyjames.bsky.social in the shop to learn before he tried hollow grinding or a microbevel

I am obsessed with a few types of chairs. I would never have thought I could build a chair before Chris Schwarz released The Stick Chair Book in 2021. I was probably 2 years away (2025!!) from having the confidence to build a chair on my own when I got into a class with Chris in 2023…

One half good dovetail out of four, but I did not follow the 1:6 angle well and I scooped out the back corner of the first two tails before doing the transfer 🤦♂️ making completing those two well impossible. 29 more sets of dovetails to go before tool chest work

Well that is shockingly disappointing. I have no idea how I got into one of Chris’ chair classes that sell out faster than Taylor Swift tickets, but I’ll always remember it as one of my favorite weeks ever

@jobforphilly.bsky.social is a genuinely visionary leader in Philadelphia. I was stunned by his presentation at @bikeaction.org about bringing world class bike infrastructure to Old City as the director of the BID. Imagine if people like him ran the whole city
