ELISA. And yeah, fly turns blue is an easy workflow, I'm already doing rt-qpcr to look at gene expression during aging, so I include hsp22 (sorry, I mixed up genes earlier, I went back to check) as a control, since it's expression increase with age is pretty well characterized

A particular favorite of mine is mitochondrial heat shock protein hsp60 expression. Compared to basal levels it's expression will increase nearly 20-fold in the days leading up to death in flies

Omg, I've actually used this assay before! Like you say, it's a very nice and easy to test biomarker for aging, but there's also quite a few others you can use to assess fly aging
