(she/her) A mom, grieving parent, liberal voter, LGBTQ supporter, pet mom & lady who is always knitting, creating normalcy around grief (pic is of all my kids) 💕
To a mother who has lost a child, this isn’t the reassurance the Calm App thinks it is.
It makes me want to say, “Eff you, Calm. You’ve no idea how you’re messing with my brain not to mention my soul.

A German woman came up to me today at the San Jose, California No Kings protest to thank me for the message on this side of my sign. She said Germans know it well but not enough Americans understand.
“The Holocaust started as a deportation program”.

Our dog died last night.
Our government is orchestrating the end of democracy here.
We are decidedly not okay.

Our sweet 15 year old dog Teddy died tonight. We will miss her so much.
She’s always been a really good dog.
We’re going to miss her quirky little self.
This is the hard part of having a dog.
But she’s been absolutely worth it.

John Fisher can eat rocks. Taking away a team from its fans is the worst.
He announced it 4/19/23, just 4 days after David unexpectedly died.
I made sure David knew we missed him at the last game.
I’ll never forget his brothers and sister seeing the message and yelling, “That’s my brother!”

I order flowers for myself every three weeks. This bouquet is particularly beautiful.
Treat yourself.
We have to keep going on.
Flowers make it a little easier.
These are from Matilda’s Bloombox.

I love San Francisco. This was part of my commute for several years.
Daly City, San Francisco, and Mt. Tamalpais.
I adored that view every day.

Progress on my latest knit:

SCÉAL GRÁ - Love Story Top by Ailbíona McLochlainn

It has a sweet bodice motif.
My photo shows the motif upside down as it’s knit from the top down.

My family has always loved our magical visits to Disneyland.
I look forward to the day we can return there after Disney rebukes fascism.

Yesterday I flew to Arizona to pick up my "new" car and drive her home to California. Driving home I was disgusted by billboard tributes and half-mast flags honoring a man who fomented hate for everyone unlike himself.
He sold hate to targeted audiences.
We are fed what they want us to consume.

Whether it’s:
• Incarceration & deportation due to ICE raids,
• Family separation policies,
• Ignorance of vaccination efficacy,
• Ignorance of COVID safety measures, or
• Gun violence fought with “thoughts & prayers”

FAMILIES BELONG TOGETHER
~ in all circumstances.
We can do better.

I abandoned all other social media platforms but this one. I think it’s just fine to reach 2 or 3 people.
Our lives are full of outside influences trying to grab our attention, if we can connect with a few real people, that means so much.
I will now work on choosing my next knitting project.

I finished knitting my Salt and Sand Top by Veera Välimäki in Ballyhoura Fibres Non-superwash Merino fingering Exmoor NP. #knit 🧶
I started it last weekend and finished it this weekend.
I’ll wear it to work tomorrow.

Celebrating my son’s birthday at his bench. It feels like he is near but that seems absurd since his ashes are in a beautiful walnut box at home.

The plaque on the bench says:
David Alexander Swerrie
Sept 3, 1993 - April 15, 2023

That dash between the dates was a helluva wonderful time.
