Saving the Universe by making our local hedgrow material into beautiful practical bicycles.
Reminds me of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1569 to 1795), which was brought to its knees by the Liberum Veto rule, whereby a single veto could bring decision making to a halt. Seems mad to have a system with that kind of fragility today.

UK law is founded on precedent, so past injustices propagate into the present and future. EU law is founded on principles of right and wrong.

Farage does care about immigration. It’s the basis of his whole strategy for gaining power. Why on earth would he reduce it?

I was referring to cars which through either poor maintenance or illegal modifications are on the road with exhaust output which looks and smells like something from the 60s.

Little point in legislation if there is no enforcement. Cars with noisy or dirty exhausts, illegal scooters and e-bikes are everywhere, entirely unmolested by law enforcement.

There used to be a thing in the services where, when the men or NCOs thought they were being given a stupid command, they would demonstrate the stupidity by carrying out the command to the letter.
I had wondered if that was what the police are doing here.

Wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the wall of a marketing meeting where someone draws a venn diagram of people who like Elon and people who want an EV.

But Rachel said on the news this morning that we can scatter magic pixie dust over all the airliners so they fly through the air wafting out only the slightest scent of rose petals.

Something like that anyway.

So what's the slogan this time?

"Hand over control?"

Amazing book. I read it in my teens an still have vivid memories. It lead me to a year of studying philosophy, only to find that having once encompassed all knowledge, over time the various sciences, maths, logic, etc had been stripped out leaving a rump of unanswerable questions

There are a lot of new build estates round here where the builders have put two pannels on a roof which easily has room for 10 or more.

My more modest 10 panel array has now been in place for one year. During that time we have imported 1733kWh and exported 1813kWh. The majority of our imports have been at the night rate, into our 10kWh battery.
Big thanks to @octopus.energy for buying our exports.

Quite right. Keep hearing calls for laws to be passed as a knee-jerk reaction to a prominent incident and many of the laws already passed are widely disregarded.

Gibbous moon you light the night,
Shining down, not quite full bright,
What trick of oblique sunlight,
Explains thy quaint asymmetry.
