We hosted our partners from @moorsforthefuture.bsky.social at BeadaMoss HQ this week. It was a great opportunity to showcase some of our micropropagation processes and to hear first-hand from one of our largest partners about the real-world challenges of upland peatland restoration!

The team are hard at work fulfilling partner orders as the peatland planting season gets underway. This time of year marks the ramp-up of restoration activity across the UK’s moorlands. One of our vans can carry around 90,000 individual BeadaHumok® sphagnum plugs!

Autumn is on the way, and with the change in season, so comes the change in colours.

Once Sphagnum moss has established in a peatland environment, the different species develop their natural colours, and we think it’s just beautiful – particularly these autumnal hues of red and burnt orange.

We hope everyone is staying safe and cool in this heatwave. Remember, picnics not BBQs if you’re out on the moors!

Re-establishing Sphagnum moss in peatlands is essential to restoring them back to healthy carbon sinks, taking CO2 out of the atmosphere.

Revegetated bogs provide natural flood management, as well as being resistant to drought and wildfires.

This #BogDay we want to showcase how enchanting bogs can be and why continued peatland restoration and protection is so important.

Bogs are incredible eco-warriors on climate change, storing huge amounts of carbon within the peat, as well as providing a habitat for wildlife.
