I have a common first name so 10 yrs ago I told the Starbucks App my name is "JD" (name initials). But I cringe every pickup with this moniker lately. Rolling out "Betty" today in honor of my Grams. I will be smiling with every coffee order.

Dad had a heart attack on Monday. Thankfully not a scary, life-taking one. A "quiet-I-don't- feel-good" one. So thankful he spoke up and went to the hospital. So glad the ER doc didn't just stop at "unremarkable results" on initial tests. (1/3)

I feel like I have glimpsed a caregiver future while taking care of my postoperative deaf, diabetic cat who has dementia. Those loopy anesthesia meds hit my senior cat hard!

A sickly pup, a generous son, a thoughtful daughter, a vibrant other pup, and a cranky feline - all wished me a wonderful "mamma's day." I am abundantly grateful to be their mamma.

College dorms are lonely places for sick kiddos. I am all for this age group to "take care of themselves," but I visited my sick kid today and noticed no friends checking in or asking how to help.
