2nd grader's HW is correcting sentences on a worksheet (making sure the first letter is capitalized l, etc.).
7yo: "Can you help me correct this sentence?"
Me: "You know, this is my job. People pay me to correct their sentences."
7yo: "Seems pretty easy."
Ouch.

So you mean all these different Word documents with notes from readings, as well as myriad post-it notes with half-formed thoughts that I've stuck on and around my computer, don't magically transform into a coherent narrative while I drink my coffee??

I'm getting emails from stores about ordering last-minute. We're TWO weeks away from Christmas; are we really already at the last-minute stage already?

I'm reading what must be a poorly scanned rendition of a journal article. Clearly the original must say "white flag," but I cannot help but be tickled by the idea that a "white Hag" warned Jesup and tried to keep him from capturing Osceola at that meeting.

I'm at the editing stage where I fix a few words, then doomscroll for 30 mins. Then fix something else, repeat. Yet I still hope to be done by noon today so that I can enjoy the a holiday break.

Me, when I order chocolate from my Girl Scout: I'm only going to buy one box of the English toffee because I have no self control, and I don't need to eat many, many boxes in one sitting.
Me, when chocolate arrives: This is so yummy and I can't stop eating it. Why didn't I buy many, many boxes??

Apparently I'm now at the age where I take pictures of birds in my yard. This friend was flitting around my car while I was in the driveway. Pretty sure it's a ruby-crowned kinglet (thanks, Merlin app!)

This year I had written few words by Halloween but also the house was a wreck. There's hope for a chapter by Christmas, though! (Don't ask how the house will look by December.)
I can put this here because my family isn't on Bluesky yet.... I may have written very few words this month, but the house is going to look amazing by Halloween!
