Not a gift call if the referee did not follow the Law of the Game. He made a mistake by not blowing his whistle to restart play. If a caution is issued, a whistle must be blown to restart play. Nothing nefarious, just a mistake by the center referee.
Great goal for #LAFC! They have some cushion from a gift call to Messi now.

Nothing. They just know the Laws of the Game and made sure the referee crew followed them. When the referee stops to caution a player, the match has to be restarted with a whistle. No whistle when Messi kicked the ball into the empty far side of the goal.

Sadly, it looks like it's going to get worse throughout the day. The NOAA forecast is that the flood will crest at 49.5 ft on Monday morning. After breakfast, I'll download the historical peak annual discharge data for Frankfort to see where this flood plots.
