We love the GoT series (yes the books). And it's not necessarily the "realities of war" it's this thing that some authors (mostly new ones) like to do, usually with detailed SA scenes that only reason to be there is for shock, not necessary for the actual plot. GoT (TV series got bad at this too)

I love that people in the 1950s, whose photos were not as convenient as ours, also took random pictures of their cats
