Not voting for either can be very liberating. (I've had to do it a few times.) It's not something to do casually, especially given the stakes of elections these days... but it avoids the moral wound that automatically comes from casting a vote for really bad people. Your hands are clean. It's nice!

That's exactly what anyone who has done any webdev should expect. The search index is presumably rebuilt on deployment, or (another real possibility) isn't indexed. Detail pages won't get built if their build is spawned by the main page being built.

This suspicion is truly Pizzagate level bonkers.

I 100% believe this was a coding error. "Screwing up an xml tag and killing the remainder of output and then pushing to prod because there's no error msg" is exactly the kind of mistake every programmer has made at his job at least once.

Y'all are circlejerking here against some great librarians.

You do grasp that page1.html and page2.html are dynamically rebuilt from the same backing database before export, right? This is silly.

The LoC is human. It has erred before (e.g.: decivitate.jamesjheaney.com/p/who-misquo... ). They're always super-professional about quickly fixing it when alerted.

I believe this is Josh Blackman's position.

Your further comment was a non sequitur, so I graciously ignored it.

The named plaintiff, Tamer Mahmoud, is Muslim. I presume this answers your question.

(Image is not quite accurate, since Yglesias is, in fact, still firmly left-of-center. It's just that he walked, while others sprinted. And also the America Right, in response to all this, poured gasoline on itself and lit a match, which has a moderate countervailing effect.)

The systems seem to be built with the needs and convenience of the people in Accounts Payable in mind -- and absolutely no one else. Not staff, not faculty, not students, and CERTAINLY not guests.

But Accounts Payable is who's buying the systems, so I guess the designers know their customer!

Mandate for Leadership IV (aka "Project 1997") calls for it to be transferred to Sallie Mae (not Treasury; I was mistaken): archive.org/details/mand...

Mandate for Leadership IX (aka "Project 2025") agrees, although Sallie Mae is no longer part of government so P2025 proposes a new one (on p327).

The proposal to close the Department of Education transfers FAFSA responsibility to a different department. (Treasury, IIRC.) It does not "shut down the FAFSA."
