Kildare GAA, Kilcullen club man, Celtic supporter, really just here for the sports chat. Anything else is best discussed in person. For politics and history read a book or pick up a paper.
Talked to a few Gardaí about this and they say it’s the same 100 to 150 selfie sticks who show up to every yoke the length and breath of the country and then whatever local numbers supplement them

That’s a great last line, the theatre critic analogy is definitely apt. Where it’s bugging me this weekend is the central tone of reports being negative because one team dominates. Can we not applaud high performance instead of quibbling that it didn’t keep us on the edge of our seat for 70 mins?

I see that stats saying that it was off the back of winning 11 of 14 kickouts. It’s hard to imagine there could have been a wide.

Was seriously clinical. Pure killer instinct and really went after it.

That will be so hard to take for Monaghan. 3 points in the second half is shocking. They were completely unstoppable as the ref blew for half time.

Try following Kildare footballers and come back to me. 😁 Cork are as reliable as a wood burning stove by comparison. We’ve only stayed in same division in 2 of last 6 years! We exist simultaneously frustrated that we could have won Leinster and still driving to Croker tomorrow riddled with anxiety.

I do get your point though. They have all the raw ingredients if they just put it all together and get some consistency.

Derry, Tyrone, Meath, even Down. I think there is teams there whose form line is trending as high if not higher. No geographical handy draws in the league. Ya go up when you’re good enough.

Look, I’m probably not explaining it well. I’m saying there would a kinda person who criticises female sport but to me I see the same seriousness, aggression and willingness to push things to win and that results in the same occasional lapses in discipline. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

All I’m saying is there’s plenty of body checks and dirty strokes in female codes too. That LGFA rules permit less contact and a yellow is a sin bin reduces it a lot. Our club played a junior final where a player got a straight red and she made a gesture towards supporters on her way off last year.

Not excusing all the pushing and shoving but that is perhaps an over idealised portrait of female sport in my experience. When top level athletes get competitive they pretty much get stuck in the same ways regardless of gender or code.
