Stewards are the first call when something goes sideways on the job. They’re the ones members turn to when they need help navigating issues and keeping workplaces fair. Huge thanks to everyone who stepped up to sharpen their skills at our two-day advanced shop steward training in Nanaimo! 💪⚓️✊

The Senate transport committee is reviewing how transport services handle labour disruptions. We’ve sent our submission to the committee. Our message: strong ferry service starts with fair bargaining and a real right to strike. ⚓

New poll just dropped:
84% want to keep shipbuilding in B.C. 🔧
61% want ferries built here, not overseas 🚢
81% want BC Ferries to explain the China contract 🔍

British Columbians are clear: bring the work home.

Canada is pouring billions into military shipbuilding, but nothing for our passenger ferries. Atlantic Canada gets fare relief but B.C.’s ferry-dependent communities get nothing. Reliable service starts with people, and people need investment. #bcpoli #canpoli

The union hall will be closed November 11. Our flag will be flown at half-mast in recognition of those who served. We know many of you will also be on duty that day, keeping passengers moving safely. Thank you for your service on the vessels, terminals and yards.

Alberta teachers are fighting to protect their right to strike. Workers everywhere have a stake in that. The right to withdraw our labour is fundamental. It keeps bargaining fair and protects safe, respectful workplaces. Solidarity to Alberta teachers. ✊
