A well constructed funeral service can hold these emotions and experiences that might seem to be at odds. We need not push grief and loss out the door in order to allow hope in.

This speaks to our cultures in ability to hold disparate multitudes at once.

The idolized center is what keeps Neoliberalism in power, which means wealth remains the center of political and social life. Wealth will NOT save or reform the USA in a sustainable and meaningful way.

So if you don’t want politics in church then I suggest you find a church where Jesus isn’t present. Jesus’ message and ministry has political implications, because poverty, healthcare, immigration, and more are political.
