Any specific waste in particular that worries you? I am a big believer of personal reduce/reuse/repair/repurpose/recycle but the truth is that a lot of what we generate never got recycled. The fib we got sold with plastic being recyclable comes to mind.

Won't watch that video as probably too depressing. CC is a bloody con to keep burning geological hydrocarbons.

Honestly, I would rather have most nuclear solely for medical/industrial/research purposes but unless we want to go back to the stone age we need efficient energy. And there's no such thing as clean energy. Some cleaner than others.

Energy will always have waste. Hydro, solar, wind, ... Nuclear is no exception and it's not that scary or complicated with the right engineering and regulation. But let's keep kicking cans down the road all while dumping the waste (CO2 most notably) straight into the atmosphere.

We shouldn't have let things come to this stage. Sad to see the damage the "cosplay greens" have done to nuclear even in Germany. Can the UK build a new power station in 5 years? Sadly I doubt the UK can organise a booze up in a brewery at this point.

That's a bit snide. I've no love for RR or salespeople in general but they're different industries. The people who make your LED lamps aren't the same people who produce your electricity either. Is waste a concern? Yes. We need strong regulation not like we did with leaded petrol, PTFEs, ...

The first thing that comes to mind is very high density, and very small footprint. I'm not arguing against renewables, I'm not seeing a viable future that doesn't include nuclear. Wind - yes; Solar - yes; Nuclear - yes. Carbon capture unicorns - NO. Biofuels - not for grid.

And the biggest issue with nuclear waste is public perception as the waste generation is far less, and just as easily if not easier, managed than comparable energy sources.

That's funny. I'm happy with wind turbines to the point I think they're even pleasant on the eye. Solar? Maybe not so much at this latitude, but I haven't looked into it, as I suspect that for the longer summer days it's possible to gain a benefit at last a solar water concentrator for hot water.

If you say you're green but then shun nuclear, then it's only green cosplay.
November 10, 2025 at 1:13 PM
Nuclear please.

But it "leverages" AI !!!
November 10, 2025 at 10:07 AM
Yet you keep opposing nuclear.

Thank you. I'm not in the US but whether we like it or not what the US does sets a precedent everyone else keeps an eye on. And for most part the past 10 years have been a race to the bottom sadly. So really glad to see something positive.

Not attributing all the fascist credit to GB News. There's other factors at play. Most of the printed and online media is just targeted sound bites. "You're the victim", "The migrants on the boats", "The green agenda", "The global warming hoax", "The elite", ...
