Got carpenter bees boring into your house or deck?

Don’t kill them. They are important native pollinators.

Hang a log with some pilot holes drilled in it and they’ll choose it instead!

Big buzzy curious bees that you’d have to work really really hard to get stung by. Really hard.

Don’t like carpenter bees boring holes in your house?

Hang up a bee log. A better house for them.

Random old log with a bunch of holes bored in (and up) about a half an inch.

They haven’t touched the house since and I get to enjoy these huge, beautiful, curious, fuzzy buzzies.

Market vs what we pick in season in MO.

Still, those market chanterelles would be darned tasty.

Just such a trip to walk in the woods and pick 20 pounds in less than 20 minutes when the season is good.

Egg market still dammed weird around these parts. Only one vendor and ridiculous prices.

Crab spiders are a favorite. In my parent’s garden, there will be one tiny spider per daisy flower.

This is a much larger one on a different flower.

I love bluebirds!

This is one of my favorite photos. I captured this in my father's garden a few years ago.

Have a surplus of lemons and limes from our trees. Dessert ensued.

Meyer’s lemon custard tart.

Triple berry lime tart.

Delicious.

The put the size in context, we found two rafts of springtails in some puddles that were in some plastic in the backyard.
