October in Japan was a good time.

Felt this one up on the 8th floor of a sky rise today - first time I’ve felt a whole building sway from an earthquake in Japan!

Recent cafe and bar hopping around Japan.

A weekend on Japan’s Izu Peninsula featuring: matcha ice cream, fireworks, the Jogasaki coastline, and Mount Omuro.

Update: have been getting alerts every 5 minutes about the Tsunami waves hitting the coast.

Additionally: most of Japan is under a heat stroke alert (again).

What a scary notification to get! I’m just trying to go to Pilates 😩

Note: I don’t have to evacuate where I am but I frequent areas that do and I am concerned for the folks there.

📍 Seoul, South Korea

Still thinking about the Moon Jar display I saw at the National Museum of Korea a few days ago.

On this day, 75 years ago, North Korea invaded South Korea. I was lucky to visit The War Memorial of Korea yesterday, a phenomenal museum focused on Korea’s history of war with an emphasis on the 1950s conflict. I spent 3.5 hours exploring, learning, and engaging with this history. A 10/10 museum.

Pleased to report there are Dunkin’ locations all over South Korea. I hid out at one yesterday when the UV index hit 10 and was very happy they had a piña colada coolata on the menu (which they discontinued in the US many years ago)!

I still cannot believe this was the very first thing I saw upon entering Seoul.

My book review for Careless People: I always thought “Lean In” seemed like a bunch of bs. Turns out I was right. Five stars. Read this if you work in or use social media in any way, especially Facebook.

What do you mean I have a local neighborhood scone shop that is currently playing Taylor Swift’s Midnights album downstairs and a jazzy instrumental version of O’Christmas Tree on repeat upstairs????

Sitting along the famous Meguro River cherry blossom walk in Tokyo whilst eating a bagel sandwich as those blossom petals fell on my face was an experience that has in fact altered my brain chemistry.

I probably shouldn’t be as surprised as I am that my weather/earthquake warning app also covers volcanic eruptions. 😬

This is my current view from Japan as I sit and listen to a chill cover of Demi Lovato’s “This is Me” from the Disney Channel Original, Camp Rock.

This book is Wuthering Heights meets Daisy Jones & The Six but with ice dancing and it is SO GOOD. From the coaches to the judges, to the frenemies and the sequins – I must recommend it.

Had to share the Maps update from Japan. Zoomed out, I get both names “Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)” but zoom in just a little bit and “Gulf of Mexico” drops to show just “Gulf of America.”

A final winter sunset view from my favorite window at my parents house. A perfect send off - we leave for Japan tomorrow!

Picked up an iced coffee this morning. It’s 28 and still snowing, so one could say I’ve re-adjusted quite well to being back in New England these past few months. ❄️☕️

Wicked was the first show I ever saw on Broadway (way back in 2006!) and I finally got to see the movie today. I’m blown away.
