UPDATE: We're happy to announce that we've heard from multiple people at @ccsdnv.bsky.social that there will be a summer school fee waiver for youth in foster care (and homeless youth) so they'll be to able to complete their required classes.

This is so infuriating to me. When you have a child willing to go to summer school and catch up on credits lost due to their time in foster care, you should move mountains for that child. Summer school improves graduation rates! Why isn’t there money for this?
We've been told that CCSD is no longer waiving summer school costs for all students—including our CAP clients, who are being asked to pay $100 per half credit. @ccsdnv.bsky.social, is this true? No wonder graduation rates for foster kids is 46%! We will be fighting this policy.

A respected professional who was always willing to help others. I loved the gleam in her eye as she told a great story. Loved by all who knew her. RIP Neena.

Kathleen “Neena” Laxalt, veteran lobbyist with a storied career in Nevada politics, died Friday morning. She was 67.
