Beginning art/writing/whatever is always very special, because beginners are often better at bringing genuine emotion into whatever they make. The more you understand what you're doing, the easier it can be to second guess yourself, imo.

I think you see glimpses of philosopher Dio in part 3. He's way calmer and well-spoken when he isn't directly confronting the Joestars. The way he messes with Hol Horse when he considers betraying him is what I think of, where he's very calm and bemused about the whole thing.
