In the second case, the monotically increasing intervals of the cubic are *in between* the two local extremes. (If there are less than 2, the it is monotically increasing nowhere).

And then maybe the cubic is possibly of lower degree (if for A(x) we have a_3=0 eg). A separate case

A cubic can have up to 2 local extremes. Aside from that, it either goes
1. to +inf (for x->+inf), or
2. to -inf (for x->+inf).

In the first case, the monotonic increasing intervals of the cubic are *outside* the 2 local extremes. (If there are < 2, then it is monotically increasing everywhere)
