Used a tone of zip ties (forgot to take a picture and I'm not taking it back out of the rack now >.>) but got this thing mostly solid inside the server for now. I'm trying to get another small form factor desktop or workstation to replace this server soon so hopefully wont be in for long.

This did not end up working out unfortunately. So to get this going I grabbed a spare (louder) server moved the drives over and got it booting. However I don't have a high profile bracket for this network card so time to get janky!

The plan was to upgrade the existing storage server just so it would be quickish. So I installed the low profile card I got for this server and it didn't boot! Take the card out, boots just fine. So we went with a BIOS upgrade, had to grab a FreeDOS bootable USB to do it!

(That's a first >.>) But then there was the network card upgrade. This is needed to be able to separate out the cluster (corosync) traffic and the storage for the VMs traffic onto separate networks. This is done to increase available bandwidth to each type and improve performance (This worked! ^.^)

I am a computer nerd. And as a nerd I have nerd projects like my home lab. (which I eventually want to build out into a kind of distributed data center with my friends) But yesterday was upgrades day! I finally got in the RAM and 4 port network card I needed. RAM upgrade went off without a hitch!

Trying to teach myself crochet and I can see all the loose loops and spots where I missed the correct loop but I’m happy I finally managed to get my fingers past the first chain!

Breakfast for dinner was pretty good ^.^
