On Saturday, June 21, we held informational pickets outside of 4 Bay Area locations protesting Blue Bottle’s petty and retaliatory firing of BB Young.

BB was fired the day after 4 Bay Area stores announced their intention to join our union.

4 stores in the Bay Area, CA have requested voluntary recognition from Blue Bottle Coffee today!! With a supermajority of support in Berkeley, Piedmont, M.C. Morse, and Old Oakland, we are prepared to take on Nestlé in order to win a livable wage, guaranteed scheduling, and affordable healthcare.

The Chestnut Hill Blue Bottle location WALKED OUT today over our dear coworker, Bella Roman’s unjust termination.

We walked out across 5/6 Blue Bottle locations in MA today, shutting down their stores.
We are committed and ready to take further action not only over BB’s ULP’s, but to win the demands we know would make our lives better, like just cause for discipline.

Last Tuesday, Blue Bottle baristas conducted a march on the boss across 5 of our unionized Boston area locations over @bluebottle's illegal decision to declare impasse over the installation of surveillance cameras.

WE WALKED OUT! this past saturday baristas took matters into their own hands after Blue Bottle's continued refusal to listen to concerns that were raised during the renovation of the prudential center location.

This lawsuit filed in 2023 alleges that Blue Bottle misclassifies Cafe Leaders as exempt employees, and as a result did not pay them OT, and “did not receive legally compliant meal and rest breaks, and were not paid at their regular rate for their sick time”

Blue Bottle has been involved in multiple wage theft law suits! No wonder why so many of their workers struggle to make ends meet. This one from 2020 alleged Blue Bottle forced workers to work through breaks and didn’t provide accurate pay statements

Nestlé has fired union organizers, banned union representatives from engaging with workers, and is trying to impose unsafe working conditions

Nestlé has also impoverished coffee farmers in Chiapas through their Nescafé scheme — pushing farmers to grow robusta coffee but not paying enough to even cover the costs of growing the coffee!

Since May Blue Bottle has been union busting and now they’re planning to renovate their largest cafe in Boston without guaranteeing hours or tips for their workers! Blue Bottle is giving union baristas a de facto pay cut and has decided baristas will take on the burden for their renovation!
