The Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gas fields were unlawfully approved because the UK consenting process did not take into account their full impact on the climate, and they must now seek fresh permission to begin operating, a court rules. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
The Jackdaw oil platform towers 40m above the ground at the Aker fabrication yard in Verdal, Norway. A giant red and white crane frames the platform which is dominated by an aluminium helipad below which juts an orange lifeboat. Vehicles and workers in the yard below the structure look tiny, giving a sense of the scale of the project on which Shell says it has so far spent £800m.
