Actually I messed that one up - realised that it was recycling the agents back to the centre far too often. Also decided to reset buildings at 100 storeys. Now it's an urban sprawl. #genuary #genuary2026.

@codeismycanvas nice. One thing I keep meaning to try is to generate initial caps, like jemmybutton did with Euclid's Elements https://github.com/jemmybutton/byrne-euclid ... the metapost code is greek to me, but I know you can get that effect by packing spirals ( […]

@paul_edwin been a while since I rode them but...close to glasgow you can ride the west highland way; a mix of dirt, gravel and short sections of road; not that great.
Much better, get over to dunoon and there's lots of forestry roads all over. Not intended as through routes so it's more […]

@simonvarwell.bsky.social I've also been working on a sitcom script set during the Great Famine of 1315-1317, when even great lords had to try to make the best meals they could from just straw.

Working title is Fried Hay Knight Dinner

@simonvarwell.bsky.social hmm, there's a film in between those? (Rogue One)

@bagder somewhat nerdsniped into just coding something that generates cross-stitch.

https://gist.github.com/bazzargh/be402da4991444d43e8ee4ceae2fd406

from there it'd not be difficult to drop it in three.js and get a 3d version, in a wood-textured frame, but I've wasted enough time on this!

@lynneguist.bsky.social LOL, and there I was pleased to find this one because it wasn't so obscure I didn't know what it meant. I guess I watch too much Scots/Geordie telly 😜

@lynneguist.bsky.social got one today! THRAWN. Wiktionary thinks it's only Scots, but Collins has it as NE dialect too. https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/thrawn

@quixoticgeek by contrast, the entire undersea area of the chunnel is only 0.6km² (37.9km x 7.9m x 2 for the rail tunnels)

So we'd only manage to push about 1/25 of the parked cars in London into the sea before it would bother the French enough to move them to the line between Paris an Lyon […]

@simonvarwell.bsky.social I wouldn't have noticed that today, I've been listening to Van Morrison on repeat.

Gloria Monday.

@simonvarwell.bsky.social the tardis on the show today is for the sixteenth doctor. That's the one they used for doctor number two
December 14, 2025 at 4:50 PM
@simonvarwell.bsky.social I didn't know the tardis had Klingons in it

@davidrvetter.bsky.social ok so councillor Richards was a "no more renewables" guy 🤦‍♂️ so there was one...
December 10, 2025 at 4:41 PM
@davidrvetter.bsky.social found the discussion in the live stream; it's about 4:05. He describes the _community council_ being sick of losing arable land, and both him and councillor Alison Orr suggest another brownfield site (an old sawmill). None of them were objecting to the battery project […]

@davidrvetter.bsky.social while I'm all for the scheme, saying it's just one man isn't accurate, Moffat is one of the local councillors for the Mid Berwickshire ward, so is acting as a representative, whether we agree with him or not. And that report appears to be based off Monday's Planning […]
