And by 'the point' I mean the point the IRA were or thought they were trying to make. These are solely my private views and I respect others are far better qualified and hold far more nuanced views.

Ignorance or complete lack of understanding. I felt when the IRA bombed England it was scary, yes, but 'the point' wasn't really understood by the English. I felt that ignorance again during the ref debate when decades of irish border negotiations could be seemingly worked around with ease.

Now I *did* catch this one - which is a joy of curated broadcast radio - and following Fry's defence and explanation I have shifted my view on Wodehouse.
