Ignorance or complete lack of understanding. I felt when the IRA bombed England it was scary, yes, but 'the point' wasn't really understood by the English. I felt that ignorance again during the ref debate when decades of irish border negotiations could be seemingly worked around with ease.

I'm still staggered at how this situation was diminished at the time of a certain referendum.
