That is a true story. I was completely enamored with the whole of Disney World, so when it was time for the parade, I was just imagining all the wonderful Disney shit they were going to throw.
It was a hard lesson that most parades are just that.

As a child, I got unreasonably pissed at Disney World because the parade didn't throw anything.

Yeah, I have a few not so fun memories like that also. Adults stepping on something so I couldn't get it. Stealing things straight out of my hands.
But the good outweighs the bad, and it taught me that adventure and fun often have a price, however small.

My childhood Mardi Gras just seemed so chaotic and exciting. I was excited to be able to do something that the adults were all doing. My dad would put me up on his shoulders, and I just tried to catch everything.

My sister moved away and one of our other nieces (who was about 6 then, but is 22 now) was so pissed and sad that Mardi Gras didn't happen everywhere.
