Under 200 MediumSlow nodes remaining. There is more MediumFast in Northern California than there is even LongFast.

If you're in NorCal and use #Meshtastic, join the MediumFast adventure!

Almost 500 nodes on #MediumFast, 250 remaining on MS for migration. If you've put up an MS node, time to make the jump! You can get from Yuba to Monterey without issue! #Meshtastic

The #BayMesh is going to #MediumFast! We're 24 hours in and already 50% migrated. If you're on MS, just change your preset to MF and you're good to go! The infra-nodes on mountain topes (like Thayer, Diablo, Sunol) have already made the jump.

The @noisebridge.bsky.social balloon is away! Unfortunately the #meshtastic node got removed before launch. A learning experience. Next time will be better.

(Day later write-up) Balloon was found (because the LongFast node was still transmitting) and recovered! Highest reported altitude was 32,893m (107,916ft) at 12:19 PM.

The RAK on LongFast was in a somewhat insulated container. The T1000E was just attached to the long line bare (yes, they knew that wasn't the "best" idea). Being just a few hour long balloon adventure, it was ok.
February 9, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Apparently the balloon wasn't a fan of the valley and has swung back around towards the bay. Currently at 30km altitude or 18 miles or 96,394ft - if you prefer freedom units. The T1000E (no gps still) is reporting a toasty 0.4C. Must be getting a lot of sun.
February 8, 2025 at 8:13 PM
13km on LF. Unfortunately the T1000E GPS (on MS) has protection against using it as an ICBM so it stops reporting location at 10KM

But it's headed NE/East at almost 150kph now.

At -20C the battery .... is having a bad time on the bare exposed T1000E (MS). The LF node has a little more protection so it's likely to survive slightly longer.

Interesting that LongFast is only getting 4 station pickups. Where as MediumSlow is getting pickup out 70+ miles. But we're approaching 10km altitude.
