Some view suffering as a sign that God loves them; others see wealth as "proof" they're divinely favored. Islam, however, rejects both extremes. Having more or less in this world doesn't reveal your standing with Allah.

Allah warns us that every emotion we carry has the potential to become a god by itself. This is a protound truth-anger, jealousy, greed, pride, entitlement, self-respect, desire-each of these feelings can grow so powerful that it begins to dictate our actions and decisions.
