You do know that is a scenario planning document don't you. The aspirations for 2030 are optimistic given it is 2026 already.

Wonderful. Amazing how much nostalgia can be stimulated by something so completely made up. I almost convinced myself I'd read those books! Thank you.

So more tax if you have no kids, and no more benefits if you have too many (to pay for Nigel's beer). They have no clue.

I was wondering why and how those MPs that started out as fresh faced enthusiastic public servants turn into grasping schemers. Take Wes Streeting, I used to think he was one of the good ones, now he takes money from NHS privatisation lobbyists. What is it about the system that does this?

Now do the one about nuclear armed UK going off the rails under a Farage govt. Regrettably far more likely.

Starmer hired them both. Our Prime Minister actually thought he could use that previously discredited liar to good effect. WTAF. No amount of donkey sanctuaries make up for this idiocy.

I am so tired of so called journalists writing about black holes. they have to quote it over ten years to make it look big, it's a small fraction of overall govt spend. easily covered by unfreezing fuel duty for example.

Epstein was convicted of sex offences in 2008. it was written up in the Guardian at the time. The idea that Lord Mandelson did not know about Epstein's conviction is not credible.

Great work from Bruce.
PS: I'm sorry to have to tell you that Edwyn didn't sing that.

We have a tradition of drinking the best cognac out of the biggest balloon glasses whenever we lose a faithful companion. I think the answer is "quite a lot"...

Do you believe that nobody stood up to Hitler - I ask that because that is implied in the use of the word "someone". Do you know what happened to many of the people who stood up to Hitler in the 1930s ?

Even harder when one has no clear, central vision for the country around which to build a strategy for governing and communicating. Harder still with no moral compass. Without some kind of anchor Labour is tossed on the sea of whatever today's so called crisis happens to be.

from your graph: since 2007 wages have grown more slowly than cpih. Compare the gap between the curves, compare the area where cpih exceeded wage growth with those where it didn't. That gap will never close until wages massively outpace ciph for years. The small uptake you report is meaningless

Cheap nighttime tariffs are hard to find in Gemany, but this article appears to ignore the widespread use of PV panels in Germany. Fraunhofer Institute reports 48% of ev owners make their own electricity, 36% of households have PV panels vs 5% in UK. one can't just compare raw electricity costs.
