The "center" using academic left/right analysis is to the left of democratic leadership and WAY to the left of republicans. Using "center" instead to describe being between national dems and republicans (like these guys and Abundance guys are) means you are describing a heavily right wing politics

There are people within the party that are left wing sure, but not at the levers of power and definitely not in their national policy output.

In every other country the dems would be considered a center right wing economic party because of their opposition to any sort of public health or national industry along with refusal to tax the rich.
