I don't think I realized I received *the* video version until just now. Fell in love with this the moment I saw the video. Here it is framed.

Red Dogwoods, Abelia (smells a lot like lilac), and a Forest Pansy Redbud. Flowers were so beautiful this year. The pollen is *record breaking* since they've started recording it. A-phuqin-choo already. We've already had a high 80s day in April. Bracing for a brutal summer.
This is a vertical photograph of red dogwood blossoms in one of our trees on the side of our house. The angle is upward so the field of view is dense with blossoms. The blossoms are a deeper pink at the edges/ends of the blossom with a blush toned ivory center near to the stem. The center of the blossom is an acid yellow/green. Branches are smooth grey brown. Different view of red dogwood blossoms. This photo is horizontal and is less dense in numbers of blossoms. Close up of Abelia with open white asterisk like flowers with five 'petals' as well as salmon color buds. It is not an especially pretty bush as a whole, but it can scent the neighborhood when it is in full bloom when it's not raining. The scent reminds me of lilac. Forest Pansy Redbud in blossom. This is a very young tree - sparse. This young redbud is a couple of weeks behind our larger redbud (in a previous post). It is intermittently peppered with pinky purple flowers. The leaves start deep aubergine, turn emerald in the summer, and yellow in fall. I will continue to document this tree as I have wanted one for 20 years now.

Finally framed a portrait of Freyja by local artist Dirk Hays. The frame is from The Chester Frame Company. I have had three other dogs painted by Dirk, but this is the first one framed in a color that does not match the dogs coat. He can paint your dog too .... just sayin' @dirkhays.bsky.social

#sims4 #sims4help So - every time a male sim gets a tattoo or body hair, there is 'bruising' under the pecs. Anyone else? Hoping to avoid the 50/50 as it'll take hours to find. #showusyourmalesims Tumblr was useless and then there's the fact so few make male sims (??) which I'll never get. HELP.

New canvas - something new for me - I normally don't add texture to a canvas (the thought being that it would not match all the varied styles of the art) but this small set is going to do it's best to pull it off. Created using only shapes/brushes in photoshop - inspired by art saved in my archives.

#thesims4 #help I'm attempting to remake this table with better textures and more variety. Two different bases - same exact problem. The glass looks specked. This would seem like a specular problem to me - but the glass specular is all white (same as EA). Any ideas? Only visible in raking light.

#sims4 #wip #thesims4 For the life of me, I cannot find the original (actual) leg - I am seeing copies out there, but this was named Phloid's Leg as a coy reference to the original design name. First test in game and I love how it translated. Original from 2014 for S3. Now for the coffee table.

The legs are based off of a real leg I found back in the 2010s - it looks like a modified pipe wrench only boxy. Legs are designed to clamp onto any flat surface making for a unique table. Room design has an industrial window peaking into the shot right most, warehouse flooring, brick walls, an oriental rug in ivory and indigo, and two modern paintings on the wall just showing. Also there is the base of a tripod lamp which is another new mesh shown earlier in my feed.

Goodnight, sweet Jaxon

The text reads: Jaxon 4/2009 - February 9, 2025 This is the photo we saw for Jaxon online to be adopted. He had a number - not a name. He was at a small high kill shelter. After looking at at least a thousand dogs online, I saw this photo and knew it was our next dog. We got Jaxon as a companion to our other dog (also deceased) Laika. They were bread and butter. Jaxon was described as a 'second fiddle' and that was really a keen observance. He was like the straight guy in a comic duo. Not the personality, but just as much a star. One of the last photos I took of Jaxon. His face is considerably more grey, his 'guyliner' has faded. This is a somber looking photo, but he was still rather spry and youthful in his actions. His decline was rapid. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and, in under two weeks, he went from acting like goofball to hardly moving. His tail - always springy and up - was down and droopy for his final days. He was showing his lack of fight and we knew it was time to end his suffering.

testing new textures - softer 'maxis match' lines - new metal color - new glass colors with a hint more opacity to make the color richer. That last photo is what I mean by the softer edges - an eight sided shape, not just a box. #sims4 #wip #thesims4

I wanted to make something new (after reworking a bunch of older items) and I think wrangling cats might have been a less frustrating effort. For a simple design, I over-complicated it with soft edges that refused to align side to side/end to end. Will continue to tinker at it. #sims4 #wip #thesims4

This floor was selected to be a palate cleanser from the industrial floor lamps - instead the pattern drove me up a wall. Inspired by a photo found online, this tile effect was a very happy accident. The specular (thing to make it shine) was a bit of a goof up and I love it.
Sims4 screen shot showing a new geometric tile floor which was both grueling to make (I kept screwing up the diagonal patterns to face the wrong direction) and a stupid happy accident (the tiles have the wavy high gloss appearance of a hand made bespoke tile). Shown with upcoming tables (in turquoise and barn red), a previously released table (in aqua), and plants/bicycle from other creators I adore. Walls are a dull terra cotta color and the new floor is white with a similar color to the walls. Also shown are the reworked industrial tripod floor work lamps. The taller lamp is mostly in silhouette, the shorter lamp shows its greenish 'metal' shade. Not shown is the inspiration photos which had matte finish very flat tiles. I will keep the wavy/high shine version.

#wip #sims4 #thesims4 between having tiny strokes reading my feed over the past week of pure insanity, I have been trying to rework these floor lamps. The 2016 version won't light up for me in my game anymore. I chose to scale up & shortened to feel less fragile (they really are fragile seeming IRL)
Various projects - some released, some WIP - along with items from a new Sims 4 kit - there is an industrial floor lamp that has been a real muthaf'kr to get the ligting, scale, and assigned smoothing to look like it belongs in a sims 4 game. The original conversion from 2016 I loved, but stopped lighting up at some point in game. Again - my style is not specifically maxis match, but this truly felt skeletal by comparison to other items in game. This is version 1 - I am 'perfecting' it before moving forward with it's variation. Items are shown in blue/green/grey/rust against a mottled white plaster backdrop. Items are a 60s twine covered wrought iron folding screen, a distressed chicken mirror, a pie-tin clock with utensil hands, a stool side table, a vintage caned chair, a jelly cabinet, and the tripod lamp. Kit items are a broken bust, a plant, some oddly shaped sculpture and a picture with simple shapes. Floors are dark brown, overlapping ratty rugs in browns, greyblues, greens, greys.

#wip #sims4 #thesims4 plant stand circa 2013 and end table circa 2014 converted. This 'set' really has no direction other than these are things I have missed from my back catalogue. So far nothing has been a straight on conversion - it's all been primped and plucked to some degree.

This is based off a real one I found antiquing years ago - I believe from Massachusetts. The two far rows are in dull milkpaint colors. The first row is textured worn paints and the second row in are based on rich victorian/edwardian colors. The table is square top with an inverted scalloped edge. The shelf below is square. The legs are very frail looking and end with a ball finial. This is all lined up in the test house yard to check for problems. The biggest problem is that it isn't catalogued as an end table so it is hard to find. Easy fix. This is a quick test shot of the second table. This has a joke name 'shoodabena' end table. It looks more like a stool than a table. The object narrative is that started out as a stool but upon finishing it, it was clearly just a table. It has 18 color variations. Six various wood tones, six edwardian/victorian rich hued colors, six worn paints. The stools are quickly arranged in the test house yard to just get a good look at them to make sure nothing stands out as odd.

Surprisingly - some of these are not uv reactive - we held up a black light and only half of them lit up (more than they already glow). This is an example we made (local craftsman) but it was a *lot* more. The sheet is 48x96 and we’d have to buy a whole sheet for a small frame.

Normally don’t talk about work so directly, but these frames are just too cool - will probably inspire a new art set in the future. We’ve made a few like this but these are next level w/ how the are cut and bent . They *glow* - also helps they *just* offer this so it cuts cost sourcing materials
Shown are acrylic color floater frames. The way they are assembled refracts their color and amplifies the color. They have a wedge taken out and bent to a right angle. These are mostly transparent options - shown at the bottom are chips of some of the colors. They will be inspiration in real life but also for digital modeling for sims4

#wip Took all day, but I finally got to test the table in #sims4 but to see it accurately is nice. The harsh rendering in UVMapper is helpful, but I can only really see the true look of it once it is in game. This is a promising start.
First in game test of a trolley cart coffee table for sims 4. Up until now I have shown examples in UVMapper which does not have a 'vaseline coated lens' like the game does. A different angle of the same table. This is a clean texture - soft wood grain, soft wear. A planned version will hopefully look a little less polished. Table is shown with a new kit sofa and a vase of flowers by Pocci. One more angle of the table. The normal map on the corner braces turned out quite nice. This was mentioned earlier, but the texture comes from a pole lamp shade that is right next to my desk. This is strikingly similar to the original from 2011, but I didn't own the lamp then .... can't say how I did it - but it was not a clear enough texture to reuse. This is far and away better.

I have a few ideas for a more gritty texture, but I wanted to try something a little more 'refurbished' rather than just a grungy table. This has 'stained' iron/zinc w/ a 'refinished' single color across the table. Maxis mix is the direction I am most comfortable with - I like the depth. #sims4 #wip
#sims4 trolley table with a maxis mix look. The look is combining a Snowy Escape wood texture with soft wood texture under it to both warm it up and make the texture complex. For me - it lacks any real depth which is my inherent problem with maxis match. This is a straight on texture/color provided by MadameRia and it will be invaluable to the overall look, but for this project it's not enough.

Snow day in Atlanta. It's like the world ends. They don't *treat* the roads, so we're stuck in the house until it gets above freezing and the sun melts the ice on the roads. Update on the trolley cart coffee table - I am playing with soft texture to *hopefully* appease those maxis match enthusiasts.
Follow up image from my last post of the sims4 version of the trolley cart coffee table with additional textures to test. While the sims4 community responds best to 'maxis match' style, I like things like grit and texture. Life is messy. Plus - I am covered with scars from work, life, surgeries. Embrace the grit - we're all a work of art. Steel and zinc have been muddled and soft rust applied. Boards and wood have been made a bit dirty and random stains applied. Verse side of the trolley cart coffee table for sims 4. A splotch of blue paint, some random dirt/wash on some of the top boards give the table some character. The corner braces are textured using a dimpled metal texture culled from a pole lamp next to my desk. très fantaisie eh
