i tried these ones before, and i really liked them. i keep dice in the tin now.

i used to have the bowl on the ground where they could safely mess with it all they wanted, but the other members of my household weren't crazy about having a bowl of dirty water on the ground at all times

i just saw one of the crows on the bird bath, holding something yellowish and pulling pieces off of it to eat, and i thought "what is that, a piece of chicken with the skin on or something?" and you know what the fuck it was? a SOUR BELT

I've been, like, casually birdwatching at the local park, and some of the pictures I've gotten would be so cool if i had an actual camera
a yellow-rumped warbler (probably Audubon/Myrtle intergrade) standing on some rusted barbed wire at the top of a fence, against a backdrop of tall leafy plants. It's sort of in profile, so you can see the identifying yellow throat, yellow spots under its wings, and white eye-arcs, but not the eponymous yellow patch above its tail. The picture overall is quite blurry, but the position and posture of the bird is favorable enough to distinguish its shape and identifying details. a Hammond's flycatcher standing on top of a fence, facing away and looking over its shoulder toward the camera. It's a small greyish bird with a small beak, a slight point to its head, white eyerings, and unusually geometric-looking dark-grey-and-white wings. The specific wing proportions are the main feature distinguishing this species from others in its genus (Empidonax), so it's cool that that detail is well showcased here. However, the image is still rather blurry due to the distance at which it was taken, and the colors are a bit washed out. A juvenile hawk in the Accipiter genus looking directly at the camera from its perch in (i think) a California Sycamore tree. The lighting isn't well-balanced and the bird is very high up in the tree, so details are difficult to distinguish, but if sufficiently zoomed in, you can clearly see the light yellow eye indicating that this individual is not yet an adult. An adult hawk in the Accipiter genus perched in a bare tree, holding a twig in its mouth and looking down at the camera with its head tilted back and chest jutting out, in a posture that reads to a human eye very much like pride. It's reminiscent of a dog that has found a nice stick to carry, and is very pleased with itself. Unfortunately, the picture is blurry from being zoomed in so far, obscuring the bird's face and plumage. You probably wouldn't even be able to tell that it's holding a twig in its mouth if i didn't say so here.

we bought a second controller and i insisted we also get these matching kitty cat joystick caps

Korra passed away this month, almost a full year after her diagnosis. She was a happy, bossy little granny all the way through her final morning. This is the last picture i took of her. 💙
