Evangeline’s eyes widened when suddenly a boy dressed rather strange - in her opinion - seemed to have appeared from nowhere and came to their rescue.

Six years later, when Eva was ten, they left France and moved to Gotham City. Why? Business, that’s all they’d say.

Now, she had a new language to learn in an unfamiliar city; as if learning French wasn’t difficult enough.

The UN took the displaced children to an orphanage in France where - one by one - they were adopted. Evangeline’s “new” parents were French socialites. ++
