A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Tuesday. Very strong wind gusts and low relative humidity will support the rapid spread and difficult suppression of any wildfires that may ignite. Avoid activities that could cause a wildfire! #atxwx

Tonight and tomorrow night are looking even colder than last month’s cold snap, with temperatures in the teens for Wednesday night. No risk from wintry precip, just from frigid temperatures and wind chills! Stay warm and protect the Ps! #atxwx

Area is under a Winter Storm Watch (which could become a warning later). Protect the 4Ps and stay warm! #atxwx

Chances of some sort of snow/wintery precip are increasing for the Austin/Travis County area. Timing looks to be Monday night into Tuesday morning. While nighttime temperatures will be below freezing, it looks like there will be enough daytime heating to melt any potential snow/ice over the week.

Things will warm up nicely this week--however, another Arctic air mass is headed our way again over the weekend. So far, temperatures track to fall into the mid-to-upper 20s at night for the first half of next week. Get ready to cover those plants again! #atxwx

Bottom line: You HAVE to keep close tabs on the forecast if you plan on being on the road anytime between Wednesday night and Friday morning.

Overall though, a common and manageable winter weather event for us. Unmitigated disaster (like 2021, 2023) is NOT expected

After the cold front passes Sunday, we’ll see a strong northwesterly wind and low humidities. Any finer fuels that are dead/freeze cured will have potential for ignition. Look for a Red Flag Warning during that time #atxwx
