Looks like it's time to custom my Dani Moonstar Marvel Legends figure (I just finished Karma and Magma btw)

I’m to advance her own arc and make her identity something other than the least popular New Mutant among fans. She would be actualized at the end, and finally have some agency other than being a footnote in other character’s stories.

There’s never been any consistent characterization of her at all

Not turn into…. Have an arc. I have spent soooooo much time thinking about this

Oh and her father died in her arms, directly caused by her actions (not really her fault but nevertheless

Saw her lover get extinguished when the Decimation happened

She survived being crucified

She also dated Empath… who actually mind-controlled her for a while

I mean, she dated the literal Devil. Girl has a dark side (and that story makes no sense without ulterior motives, even if Mephisto reveals it years later.)

Magma has so much unresolved trauma though, and there’s got to be an in-universe reason why she’s not like Monet #Xmen

Remember when she showed up in X-Men Gold #1 as a member of the Brotherhood? I would have been okay with it if they never revealed her as being mind-controlled. I also think the trauma started in early childhood in a yet-to-be revealed story (and retcon…Marvel, if you’re listening, I’ve got a pitch)

I think they'll deal with it okay but you might want to ask if they're ok

Someone shared a leaked trailer at NYCC

She was my first thought and then I thought about the lack of ears. You could be right

So if someone could identify her, that'd be real nice because I got zip

Now for Penance, is she Monet St. Croix? the St. Croix twins? the Hollow Penance? She doesn't have Monet vibes in that screenshot but that would be the most obvious choice. I doubt she's the twins or Hollow because so much backstory and explanation.
