What can young voters do to protect the CWB? Commit to vote in the upcoming federal election: update your voter registration, make a voting plan, and encourage friends to vote. Vote strategically in your riding: learn which candidates are most likely to beat the Conservatives in your own neighbourhood.

Poverty is a policy choice. That’s why we need strong commitments to end it. Conservatives claim to care about affordability but won’t commit to protecting the CWB, which puts money directly in the hands of Canadians.

We’re looking for commitments to protect the CWB and increase benefit amounts to better support those that need it most. Poverty is a policy choice. That’s why we need strong commitments to end it. The Conservatives won’t do that. They claim to care about affordability but won’t commit to protecting the CWB, which puts money directly in the hands of Canadians.

So far, no party has included the Canada Workers Benefit in their 2025 platform. But some ( 👀 the NDP) have made other commitments to support low-income Canadians.
Who will protect it? So far, no party has included the CWB in their 2025 platform. But some have made other commitments to support low-income Canadians. For example, the NDP’s tax plan is projected to provide the most savings for lower-income earners making between $14,000 and $31,000.

Who will risk it? The Conservatives’ latest promise to reduce taxes is projected to benefit the richest 30%, while providing almost no savings to low income workers. At the same time, Conservatives have made no mention of the CWB during this election period. This means no commitments to maintain or improve the CWB. Conservatives have said that they will cut spending on programs if they win the next election.

TL;DR: The Conservatives, led by Pierre Poilievre, have made no commitments to maintain or improve the Canada Workers Benefit, while also promising tax cuts to the richest 30%. We want to see programs for low income workers protected and expanded, but we don’t trust the Conservatives to do that.
