This is the first painting that I worked on in my new studio. It is the view of the lake from there with acrylic gouache, a new material for me. Looser lines, brighter colors than I normally use. I am above the clouds and look forward to evolving in this space.

These antique lanterns were used by miners as they worked in the subterranean. These lanterns were designed and improved to consume less oxygen and had a higher light quality to work well in the dark tunnels. People have always found ways to go forward, to keep the light on.
